With about 100 or so Ridgebacks out in the wild, we have been reaching out to our users looking for feedback on how to be better. The responses we have received have been overwhelmingly positive, while a few had some valid critiques. For this next batch coming up this Thursday, we will be showing that we listened, adjusted and more importantly, introducing our new blade shape to the Ridgeback series, the WharnCleaver.

Across both blade shapes, we added jimping to the flipper tabs for a bit more traction during deployment.

The Ridgeback was initially designed to be a modular system that revolves around the integral body that would allow us the space to create a series of products. We knew that new blade shapes and body patterns would evolve to meet different user’s needs, but the essence of the knife would remain. When we designed the first blade shape, we also had this WharnCleaver in our back pocket, which is slightly longer than the Series 1 design. We think the extra length for this style of knife is as much functional as a tool as it is aesthetic in terms of filling the handle when closed. We hope you like it too.

We reduced the Behind The Edge (BTE) thickness from the Ridgebacks Series 1 (Modified) .025” to .015”. Straight cutting edges perform exceptionally well at tasks that require slicey precision, so a thinner BTE made sense for this tool.
